CONTEST ALERT: Win a Scholarship to Our New Program!

Yep, I’m up to my elbows in mommy duties.

But that doesn’t mean that I’m not planning to unleash a lean, mean total body transformation program in January…

Introducing Project 2012!

Now, I can’t take all the credit for this new fandangled, comprehensive 3-month program being held here in Long Beach.  My partner in crime is fellow Fitness Professional and badass Long Beach Roller Derby girl, Christy Drescher (aka, “Boba Femme”).

The two of us have been fortifying the bodies of the LBRD girls over the entirety of 2011, and now we will work closely with 12 individuals in an attempt to achieve a major life overhaul.  We couldn’t be more excited to work together on this new project.

You can read the details about the program HERE

This post isn’t about those details.  It’s about a CONTEST we’re running RIGHT NOW.  A contest to win a full paid scholarship for Project 2012.

Yep… For one lucky individual, this New Year’s transformation program will be completely bought and paid for!

The contest rules are simple…  Continue reading

A Month of Mommy Bliss

It was one month ago today that we welcomed our sweet baby girl into the world.  :)

Josie Kay Danhoff floated up out of the water of our birth pool at 9:21 am on Saturday, November 5th, 2011.  The sun was streaming through the blinds of our living room… a fitting scene after a long, stormy night.  Josie looked right at me, eyes wide with the shock of entering into a strange new world.  That look was absolutely amazing!

Well, hello!

JD and I just stared in silence at our creation, dumbfounded by the accomplishment of successfully finishing an extended journey.  As little Josie worked on pushing out those first few breaths and labored cries, our midwife had to remind us to snap out of our silence and talk to our brand new daughter.  We’ve been trying to stop staring in awe ever since…

Just hours after her arrival... 8 pounds of pure sweetness

Confession time… I’ve got weaknesses

We all have our weaknesses.

When it comes to me, I have a problem with being late.  I don’t like to admit it – because it’s hard to point out your own flaws.  And I must say… this is an annoying, frustrating flaw!  But I want to be honest and transparent for you.  Flaunting my strengths isn’t always the right thing to do.  The weaknesses are part of me, too.  And unfortunately, time management is one of the biggest weaknesses in my world.

In the realm of movement, my weaknesses lie in my speed, power and reaction time.  Or really, my lack thereof.

Slow & steady ain't always the name of the game!

I was never a great vaulter or tumbler in gymnastics (my coach used to threaten to give me Geritol to alleviate my eternal slowness – how embarassing).  I am not a fantastic sprinter.  And although I tried my hardest in a short-lived Muay Thai Kickboxing stint, I was absolutely awful at blocking punches (yes, that means I got to enjoy a handful of punches to the face!  Argh!).

But… In order to be as fit, healthy, unbreakable and BADASS as possible, it is a MUST that I attack these weaknesses on a regular basis (or at least after I deliver this baby!).

Sure, I’d much rather demonstrate my lower body strength, my agility, my flexibility, or my unwaveringly consistent work capacity over tough challenges.  It’s fun to spend time on your strengths.  But I will never be successful in fitness and movement if I don’t spend time on the weak links in the chain.

Similarly, I will never be an uber successful businesswoman if I don’t keep focusing on improving my challenge with time management (and believe me… it’s about to get MORE challenging after the little one arrives!).

So, I guess my message to you today is…
